Important Information About Medicare Rebates
At The Psychotherapist, we are unable to provide Medicare rebates—even if you have been referred by a private treating health professional (such as a GP or Psychiatrist) with a GP Mental Health Care Plan or other documentation. Currently, psychotherapists are not eligible to offer Medicare rebates, although this may change in the future due to growing demand. Please note: In Australia, couples therapy sessions are generally not eligible for Medicare rebates, even if both partners hold a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Medicare rebates primarily apply to individual psychology sessions.
Your sessions may be covered by private health insurance. We encourage you to check with your provider for information on how to claim.
